Obstacles Overcome: I have always been an emotional eater, I would eat when I was happy, sad, excited, depressed, it didn't matter.
What I've come to realize is that I was eating so I didn't have to deal with whatever emotion it was - especially
the negative ones. Now that I cant stuff my feelings down inside of me with food, I actually have to deal with all the
things I have never dealt with in the past. Identifying triggers and learning to control them has been a huge obstacle
for me.
Additionally, my gall bladder failed and had to be removed in September
and I had 2 hernias and a small bowel obstruction repaired Oct 31st. These were 2 pretty big unexpected obstacles, but today
I am feeling good and healthier than ever!
Support Group Benefits: The benefits of Support Group are immeasurable.
It helps so much to know that I'm not alone, to know that other people have gone through what I'm going through and
who are going through the same things. I also really enjoy "giving back" - helping others. I have
been told by many people that my own sharing has helped to inspire them and that's just a good feeling no matter who you
are or what you're going through. I think the Support Group really helps to keep me grounded or focused. Just
like any lifestyle change, its easy to revert back to old habits, but going to support group is one of the ways I keep myself
accountable.. I know others are there to encourage me and support me to be a success and I don't want to let anyone down.
Its a real reminder that we aren't only there to talk about losing weight but about what brought us to this place in our
lives to begin with and how to deal with those things as well as the changes and challenges that come along with Weight Loss
Surgery.
Hobbies: Photography, Scrapbooking, Blogging, Exercise
(not sure if I consider it a hobby - but its definitely something I enjoy now!)
